Among the awards are the “Best Adventure Tourism Destination” and the “Best Beach Destination” and “Best Insular Destination”.
Portugal once again distinguished itself in the 28th edition of the World Travel Awards, or the tourism “Oscars”, bringing home more than 20 national distinctions and European awards.
The Azores region won the “Best Adventure Tourism Destination” award, and the Algarve the “Best Beach Destination”. Madeira received the award for “Best Insular Destination”.
The Lisbon Cruise Terminal won the distinction of “Best Cruise Terminal” and Turismo de Portugal the “Best Tourist Authority”. The Paiva Walkways once again stood out with the distinctions of “Best Adventure Tourism Attraction” and “Best Tourism Development Project”.
Another highlight is the Pestana CR7 Lisboa, which distinguished itself as the best in Europe in “Lifestyle”, the same category in which the Conrad Algarve was awarded among the resorts.
Valverde Hotel won the award for “Best Luxury Boutique Hotel”, and Vila Vita Parc the award for “Best Hotel with Luxury Villas”. The Lake Resort was considered the “Best Luxury Lifestyle Resort” and the Dunas Douradas Beach Club the “Best Luxury Resort and Villas Area”. Cascade Wellness Resort was voted “Best Resort in Europe” in the sports segment.
These awards are the result of an online voting open to the public and to tourism and travel professionals globally.
