Golf in Portugal - Ponte de Lima - Minho

When it comes to golfing, Portugal has always been a favourite amongst Northern European golfers. With its excellent climate and a big concentration of golf courses in the popular Algarve, it’s not hard to understand why Portugal is so popular.

Located in the North of Portugal, 70 km. from Porto and 20 km from Viana do Castelo, the Ponte de Lima Golf Course is a golfer’s paradise. Ponte de Lima Golf course is a typical mountain course, covering 6 km adorned with luxurious vegetation and well restored, historical mansions, which supply infrastructure for golfing activity.

Created by Daniel and David Silva, the Ponte de Lima Golf Course is designed as two rounds of nine holes convenient for tournaments. Harmonious and seductive, it is an inspiration for golf lovers.

The Ponte de Lima golf course, north of Portugal, is a course of contrast where the first nine holes are hilly and the second nine level.

The first nine holes of Ponte de Lima golf course are placed amongst old trees (chestnut trees, cork and English oaks), leading through a ravine to Quinta da Anquiao, where holes number 1, 2, 8, and 9 provide glorious views over the Lima Valley and Viana do Castelo City.

Hole Nr. 3 (par 5) of Ponte de Lima with 622 m. is one of the longest holes in Portugal and in Europe; hole 8's tee (par 3) is situated higher, allowing one to attack the green directly below.

The next nine holes of Ponte de Lima Golf Course are situated in the Quinta de Pias valley with its surrounding vineyards, corn fields, apple and pear trees.
