I want to share with you all a few misconceptions and perhaps even myths about Portugal, Country I have called home for more than 20 years…
First to put things in perspective know that I was born in Angola, an ex-colony of Portugal, and at an early age my parents moved to the United States with my sister and me, where I was fortunate and blessed not only to be educated but most importantly learned the value of growing up in a Country where freedom and liberty are its core principles at which the US was built upon…
Today I see the same quest from many families who are looking at Portugal, for many of those reasons that my own family was looking to provide us, and today I see them here…
Portugal offers security as it is one of the safest countries in the world to live, just look at Global Peace Index’s survey as being the 3rd safest Country in the world to live!!!… THAT IS NOT AN OPINION IT IS A FACT!!!…
Portugal offers quality of life… You have heard me say many times before say that “You don’t have to be a millionaire to live here!!”…
Years ago yes there were mostly retirees who looked at Portugal to live out their Golden Years, and still it is true!!!… Now what I can tell you is that there is more and more young families with small children wanting to provide their families the same quality of life my parents sought for us when we migrated to the US…
Yes we have great beaches… Yes we have the highest rate of sunshine in Europe with over 3.300 hours of sunshine per year!!!… Yes we have the one of the richest gastronomy in the world where fish is abundant, due to our rich culture and history with the ocean!!!… Yes
we have… Yes we have… Well I can give you over a hundred reasons to choose to make Portugal your home, but I’ll limit myself to those same reasons my parents were looking for… EDUCATION… HEALTHCARE and SECURITY… Those are the core reasons many now are deciding to call Portugal their home!!!…
Make no mistake about it… Portugal is not PERFECT as we have our own social issues and challenges to deal with just like any other Country with democratic values, and there are some who will not agree with me and are quick to tell me otherwise… I simply will tell you… You have chosen the wrong Country to be in and with so many beautiful countries in the world to live, believe me that I have visited many of them, you simply have to find your place that you are happy to call home!!!…
In closing I will also tell you that “YOU ARE NOT A TREE AND CAN MOVE AT ANYTIME!!!”…
